People of Color Improv Performance Class

Service Description

We use activities to connect improv to everyday life. Through games, activities, and scene work, participants can embrace failure, get more comfortable being themselves, and connect with others--with a lot of laughter! Expect a mix of individual, partner, and group activities. People of Color Improv Performance Class will have an ensemble focus where teamwork & connection are the goals. You will practice different characters, stage picture, and editing. Six classes - plus an invited friends & family class show. Physical Access Some activities may be very physical and/or done standing while others will be done sitting. We know bodies move in different ways, and we're happy to adapt our activities to what your body is up for. Our lobby, theater, and restrooms are flat, ground-level and ADA accessible. Please let us know if you will use a wheelchair for this class and we will enthusiastically accommodate. Email comedy@frontporchimprov.com to communicate this. Thank you! Attendance Because improv is built on trust and community, we ask those who enroll to commit to attending at least 6 of the sessions. INSTRUCTORS Bernie Perez is a regular performer at Front Porch Improv. Catch him performing in our Friday and Saturdays night shows and in our POC Jams. Bernie seeks to create a safe, supportive and fun environment for his students. ​ SCHOLARSHIP In an effort to increase access we have set this course $50. We have a sliding scale for payment, and scholarships up to the full cost are available. Please email comedy@frontporchimprov.com for more information. For those with the available means, we ask that you pay the standard rate and/or consider making a donation so we can strengthen our community of POC improvisers.
