Service Description

SOLO PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP. No prior performance experience necessary. Developing original characters is a major strength to any comedic performer. This course will explore exercises and techniques to help you develop original characters for solo performance. For character work we use a combination of improv techniques as well as theater games, movement exercises, and vocal work to help you explore and expand your performance capabilities. Your original characters can be used to develop solo shows, theater/live performance, social media videos, or just help you open up a sense of play. Instructor: HENRY RIGGS is a comedy writer, improvisor, actor, and 1/2 of the sketch comedy duo Nameless Numberhead. He has trained and performed at The Second City, iO Chicago, The Annoyance, Upstairs Gallery, The New Colony, Strawdog Theatre, Pure Theatre, Footlight Players, and Theatre 99, He received a Non-Equity Jeff Award (Chicago) for Original Music Composition for the original musical That Sordid Little Story. Film and TV credits include: the Aretha Franklin biopic Respect (MGM), The Inspectors (CBS), Shovels and Rope The Movie, but let’s be honest, you probably saw him in that local lawyer commercial. His sketch team Nameless Numberhead has toured nationally and been featured at SF Sketchfest, NY Sketchfest, Cincinnati Fringe, TedX, North Carolina Comedy Festival, Dallas Comedy Festival & more.
